I am IBM's Chief Technology Officer for Security and Co-Chair of the IBM Security Architecture Board.

Until May 2006, when I took an international assignment to the IBM Software Group in Somers, NY, I managed various security and privacy research projects and the software research department at the IBM Zurich Research Lab, and also the IBM Privacy Research Institute.

I received a Dr.rer.nat. in Computer Science from the University of Karlsruhe, in 1991. Since 2008 I am an IBM Distinguished Engineer, since 2004 a Fellow of the IEEE, and since 2003 a Member of the IBM Academy of Technology,.
