Distributed systems & network management
Our research focuses on management of large and small networks
and systems using distributed management. The advent of the Internet
and network-based services means that we need to deal with scale
on two fronts:
- large, geographically distributed systems that we encounter
in e-business and
- small but many, resource-limited end-devices such as cellular
phones.
We are currently working on dynamic, service provisioning with
end-to-end quality requirements for the ASP environment as described
in our ICorpMaker project.
We have ongoing work on a distributed
replication framework that provides an easy way to introduce
customizable replication to applications. We are also looking at
adaptive management, the ability of management software to cope
with heterogeneity of underlying end-device types and available
resources. For our projects, we partner primarily with Tivoli
Systems, a division of IBM.
