The research of the Zurich GSAL focuses on intrusion
detection. Together with the Watson
GSAL, the GSAL at IBM's Zurich Research Laboratory is the research
center of competence for applied network security.
Our research work is dedicated to ensuring that the benefits and
convenience of networked computing continue to outweigh the risks of
operating in an open networked environment. Increasingly refined
intrusion-detection techniques allow users to operate with confidence,
in spite of the vast number of attacks that threaten computer systems.
The Zurich GSAL has acquired a worldwide reputation in the field of
intrusion detection (ID). We support IBM's Managed
Security Services and Security and Privacy
services by developing methodologies and tools for the detection,
prevention and analysis of security incidents.
