Overview of Great Minds student internship initiative

This summer, the Zurich Research Laboratory launched the Great Minds initiative. The program offers internships at the Zurich Research Lab, the European branch of IBM Research, for students from central and eastern Europe.

The initiative aims at promoting exceptional young and skilled students in computer science by giving them the unique opportunity to work alongside IBM researchers in one of the world's premier industrial IT research organizations.

Eligibility

The program is open to any full-time student enrolled in a Master's program in computer science at a recognized college or university in central or eastern Europe. IBM is an equal-opportunity employer and encourages applications from both genders as well as minority groups, but students must have a solid command of the English language.

IBM will pay the winners' travel expenses to and from Zurich, as well as accommodations and a small internship allowance.

Nomination procedure

Participants must be nominated by a faculty member, and an IBM expert committee will review the nominations. The top three candidates chosen by IBM at its discretion will be invited to the Zurich lab for an internship. IBM would especially like to encourage women to participate.

To apply for the Great Minds 2007 program, see the detailed instructions.

Deadline for submissions is September 28, 2007.

"Great minds and great ideas are what is driving innovation in the IT industry. With this initiative we would like to reach out to the next generation of innovators and tap into the outstanding research talent in this part of Europe."

Matthias Kaiserswerth
Director, IBM Zurich Research Lab
