The Blue Gene Project update.

R. Germain

Abstract: The Blue Gene project has two main goals: to advance our understanding of the mechanisms behind protein folding via large-scale simulation, and to explore novel ideas in massively parallel machine architecture and software. This talk will provide a high level overview of the current state of the machine design and the science program.  The science program is currently being carried out on conventional hardware platforms to build up experience with techniques that may be used later on a larger scale.   In particular, ongoing simulation studies related to force field characterization and recently published work on free energy landscape analysis of a beta hairpin system (c-terminus of protein G) will be described.
