Tap Dancing

I started to do tap dancing at the age of 20 at the Colombo Dance Factory in Zurich. After two years of intensive training I took part in the Swiss Tap Championship where I was ranked second. Unfortunately in the next few years there was no other championship organized in Switzerland so that I could improve my result. Shortly after tap dancing I also started with other types of dances like Jazz Dance, Modern Dance and Classical Ballet. This allowed me to take part in several shows of the "Colombo Dancers" with numbers like Good Morning, a tap solo, several jazz numbers, and a modern pas de deux.

I improved my dancing skills with several workshops and trainings in Paris and London. Subsequently I started working part time at the Zurich Opera House where I took part in several musical productions like "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Cabaret, Cabaret". My roles in these musicals were mostly focussed on folk dancing, singing and some acting. In the musical "Cabaret, Cabaret" I also was hired as a co-choreographer for the tap scenes and I performed a tap solo in the part "Money makes the world go around".

After this performing experience I started teaching tap dancing and for a short while also jazz dancing. During this time almost 1000 people have started tap dancing in my classes. Just a few, however, stayed until they became very advanced. With these classes we set up a repertoire that we performed on more than 20 different occasions. We also took part in the Swiss Championships of tap dance; students of mine were Swiss Champions as a Duo and a 13 member formation.
