Our group is engaged in exploring various coding, signal processing
and servo control aspects of a data storage system based on the
Millipede technology. Research activities comprise

design and implementation of advanced servo control
schemes for rapid and accurate positioning on the nanometer
scale, |

detailed modeling and characterization of the
readback signal from a thermomechanical sensor, |

design and implementation of advanced data detection
techniques, |

timing recovery approaches, |
| · |
constrained coding and ECC schemes as well as |
| · |
crafting the overall system architecture for
a storage device. |
